These frogs are one of the insect-fed insects. They meet all their nutritional needs from crickets. If you are uncomfortable with crickets, this frog is not for you.

In nature, they consume grasshoppers, moths and everything they can fit in their mouths. Before feeding your toad with an insect, load a gut load. Ratchets should be fed with carrots, crickets and water. Feed the crickets 24 hours before giving them to the red eyed tree frog. Whatever the crickets have consumed, the tree frog will have consumed it.

Red eyed tree frogs need to be fed with about 15 crickets of suitable size every three to four days. The length of the crickets should not be longer than the head width of your tree frog.

Terarium Care

A pair of red-eyed tree frogs can easily live in a terrarium around 38 liters (10 gallons). Add about 19 liters (5 gallons) for each frog. As it is a tree type, choose a vertical tank, not longitudinal. Since they have suction cup toes, they can climb to any surface.

A reliable cap must be placed over the tank. If luck is recognized, they run away.

Substrate

Potting soil without coconut peat or fertilizer is a suitable substrate. It is both beautiful in appearance and traps moisture. Your substrate can be 5-7.5 cm deep. Other floor materials that can be used are ready-to-reptile bark, reptile bark, paper towels and peat moss (peat moss). If you mix peat moss, soil and coconut peat, you will get an excellent yield.

Sand and conglomerate are not suitable because they can be swallowed and do not trap moisture well. Red eyed tree frogs, belonging to the rainforests, need moisture.

Temperature

Red-eyed tree frog terrariums should be kept at the top values of 20-30 degrees throughout the day, while they can be lowered to lower values at night. Heater lamps are suitable because when the pad is placed underneath, the glass may crack when water comes into contact with the hot glass.

Water / Humidity

Your tree frog needs between 60-70% moisture to survive. If he lives in long-term arid conditions, he will lose his life. You can spray water into the tank, including soil three times a day. If you find it difficult to retain moisture, you can place a towel to cover two-thirds of the above screen cover.

Water is important as frogs enter and drink at the same time. Often they contain those that sprayed water and plants. Replenish this water every day.

Cleaning for Red Eyed Tree Frog

It is not difficult to clean. Just clean the visible stools and refresh the water. The substrate should be cleaned every few months. If you need a tank, spray water and have a happy frog.
Since red-eyed tree frogs live in groups, their production is quite simple and popular. There is an arid and rainy season in Costa Rica. When you’re ready for production, reduce the daytime temperature to 23 degrees and the night to 18 degrees.

Continue this for a week. Be sure to reduce the humidity to around 30-40%. Then spray the tank with water very often, especially when going to sleep at night. Don’t forget to raise the temperatures again. At night, males can be loud when calling females.

Don’t worry if the two frogs are still stuck together when you wake up. Let them be together as much as they want. When they are ready, they will leave. This will happen for a week until the actual spawning begins.

Females lay about 75-100 eggs. They must be incubated at 24 degrees. They come out in a maximum of 9 days. Tadpocks must be well fed with crushed fish food until they walk on land. They can be looked at together as long as they are fed well enough, otherwise you may encounter cannibalism. Hold the puppies for 5-7.5 cm of water and make sure the tank is wide enough that they will not float on top of each other. If not, add some more water.
